evolution of fraternitiesI joined Bones Gate because it was the only fraternity that suggested it did not encourage physical abuse or fighting. Since the fraternity scene was very popular, I needed to join to feel part of Dartmouth society.
Around my sophomore year, I was very popular and decided I did not need the frills of fraternity life to feel like a part of Dartmouth society.
This was a mistake mostly, because though Bones Gate is not a necessity, there's no reason to quit a group you joined with good intentions. I rejoined BG as a senior and found the experience worthwhile.
Now, I'm an alumnus, and I believe the new tides in our Hellenistic world encourage homeostasis (that's biofeedback sustainability) and sustainable living. Therefore, perhaps the current brothers should explore mingling with members of co-ed houses like Amarna, though, to be sure, this does not mean that single-sex fraternities are immoral.
Good luck!
